The only problem with an Oasis best of is that it is always going to leave out at least one of your favourite tunes. Thankfully Stop the Clocks manages to fit most of the classics in, as it is crammed full of them. From the opener of Rock ‘n’ Roll Star to closer Don’t Look Back in Anger every song has a memory and a meaning personal to all the fans. Be it seeing them for the first time on Top of the Pops to watching them headlining Knebworth.
The songs are taken from across most of the Oasis albums and include some of the excellent B-sides such as Talk Tonight, The Masterplan and Half the World Away, all of which would have made great singles. All the best songs are there from old classics such as Cigarettes and Alcohol and Live Forever to the newer material of Lyla and The Importance of Being Idle. There is even room for the excellent, Liam wrote, Songbird.
The older songs are still as fresh sounding and important today as they was when Oasis first took over the music industry way back in 94. Proving that Oasis are just as important now as they ever where.
All in all this is an amazing collection of 18 of the best Oasis songs like the perfect Oasis mix tape. This is an album is for old fans to reminisce the greatest moments and for new fans to discover such a great bands existence.
