The ambient introduction is a great start for Devil Sold His Soul, separating this band from the screamos of today that all sound exactly the same.
After this placcid intro in comes 'As The Storm Unfolds', a powerful track with heavy drowning guitars, high-pitched screams and strong drums. This track may not have riffs that sound exceedingly difficult to play but the song is well written, and the whole sound as one is the thing that impresses most.
Devil Sold His Soul seemed to have fashioned their own style of screamo/hardcore and have tried to create music that people can listen to and not cringe at the action of pressing play on their iPod. Even though I heard of DSHS due to their infamous myspace, they seem quite talented, something to watch out for in the future.
Everything dark that has influenced DSHS has come together in this album, the music is dreamy but strong, it makes you think but also bang your head. Tracks like 'Sirens Chant' are for you if your looking for a listening full of anger, but with an added good feeling.
