Kingskin - Rhyme For Smalltime
Released: 5th October 2008
Label: Zebra

Kingskin manage just about to turn over new leafs in the pages of rock. They have their influences for sure, but overall they manage to retain an entertaining enough sound of their own. Some songs have a grainey etch to the sound quality which works wonders. Especialy with the leads gruff voice, it adds an active crackle instead of a echoed soundscape that can often come from recording in studio.
What is most intriguing is the fact that there is so much potential to take some of the material off on tangents to all varities of sound. Maybe for a follow up effort they could study their old material and really go to work on where they could take their music. This album is open to bending the rules, maybe next time they can break a few and suprise the listener.
