Phre the Eon
Phre the Eon - Phre the Eon –EP
Released: Demo CD

Phre the Eon are an unsigned Manchester foursome who brand their music intelligent indie. This debut EP attempts to emulate the sounds of Madchester heroes like The Stone Roses or Inspiral Carpets but lacks the inspiration needed to make the grade in a city of such rich musical heritage. There’s nothing overly offensive here, ‘Everybody’s Fallin’ Apart’ has a nice catchy melody and all tracks are well produced, but there’s also nothing that really stands out enough to lift them above the multitude of similar unsigned bands.

Attempts to emulate the sounds of Madchester heroes like The Stone Roses or Inspiral Carpets? Were you listening to the same EP that I did? I thought this EP had a lot of depth with good songwriting and powerful performances throughout with a unique sound that didn't seem to be trying to imitate anyone, particularly the bands mentioned by the reviewer. Check it out and see for yourself.
