Yendri - Broken World
Released: 13th March 2009

Hamburg based artist Nina has been flying very low under the raider for many years now, as Yendri she has managed to produce 8 albums in the past 10 years. This latest addition to her repertoire of moody electro chaos is titled “Broken World.” It’s nice to report that there isn’t much broken with this record. 16 tracks of industrial electro goodness bouncing about from rock industrial to trance; synth; dance; and even time for a bit of the gothic ethereal world.

The first few tracks on the album suggest a clash of the heavy industrial trance worlds. This progresses beyond the more hardcore world to reveal something even deeper. There is also a strong ambient thoroughfare in the work. ‘Raining Lies’ is the first example on the album of the more ambient nature. ‘Release Me’ has an early gothic influence in its piano melody. Nina’s vocal work, all whispery, soft and fragile, is ideal for countering the strength of the dominant score around her that she has created.
Other stand out tracks include ‘Not’ which is nothing short of a piece of beauty; Starting out with a more ethereal orchestral flow before evolving into an atmospheric dance number. ‘Oh No’ highlights other tricks at her disposal as it brings a grunge guitar feel which then leads into an ambient landscape of despair.
With this her 8th album as Yendri, there seems to be no stopping her. And even at eight albums this is still strong material.
