Three Trapped Tigers will definitely be popular with the underground electro punk world, experimenting with a dexterous fusion of electronics, instruments and skilful time signatures. This band will unite the electro and rock lovers in a rapture of stimulating music.
With few inspiring bands in this genre (Battles, Pendulum) it is easy to make their mark and influence others as, unlike their adversaries, they have blended electronica with rock instead of having one component more apparent. They replaced meaningful lyrics with evocative synths, created bass lines with sinister electronic noises, insinuated depth with harmonic vacant vocals and fusing it altogether with incredibly skilled and energetic drumming.
One thing that is evident with this trio is that their creative powers are used only in their music, with the new EP (named EP2, a follow up to EP1) hiding their contagious energetic music under the uninspiring names 6, 7, 8 and 9.
The song titled 6 starts the EP with a brilliant blend of harsh industrial noises, affable synth melodies, harmonic vocals and outstanding drumming, discreetly moving from time signature to time signature. The second song, 7, manages to maintain this fusion but thankfully not at all monotonously. Song 8, being a personal favourite, brings out the adrenaline junky in anyone, instantly making anyone want to get up and move. The last song on EP 2 is fittingly the exuberant come down of a very enjoyable high.
Three Trapped Tigers’ EP2 does not progress from the first EP, their songs and their already exceptional talents have not grown or taken different creative paths. This has produced nine brilliant songs which would be suitable as a brilliant debut album, but not showing any hope for a second album. I hope to be proven wrong.
