An urgent cello riff is the first thing your encounter on Amy’s Ghost Second single ‘Paper Boat’. It melds beautifully with the enchanting plinky plonk piano whilst the light drums simply compliment their mellifluous and ardent sound.
I can hear shades of early Mazzy Star in the arrangement and Amy Barton’s vocals are enigmatic, enchanting and captivating in a vain similar to that of lead Bangle Suzannah Hoffs.
The track remains haunting but light which is a clever trick that the band pull off effortlessly.
The subtlety of ‘Paper Boat’ is there for all to hear. A wonderful track and it more than whets the appetite for their forthcoming album. Delightful!!
