“Sexy, electric live performances, with bags of energy. Head nodding, foot tapping hooks with cool body movin’ grooves”. Here you go…! You have just entered Deep South’s world: the four-piece band from South London that recall and reproduce old forms of classic rock music.
“The Funk Room”, “Burning your Love” and “Deep South” are the three tracks that compose their second demo. Each of these three tracks, one by one, reminds us of great classic rock bands, with Led Zeppelin and the Doors as the most distinct examples. Thus, as so many classic rock bands had a lead over Deep South it is rather difficult to talk about uniqueness. However, the dynamic character of Deep South’s music make them different and in a certain way unique among the other current bands. Despite their young age (they are all 20-years-old each), Aaron, Dan, Wigs and Bish have managed to create a really good sound throughout this demo and they seem to be a rather promising band for the near future. The structure of their songs as well as the guitar parts- especially in “The Funk Room” are a wonderful unexpected surprise.
Aaron kindly accepted to answer some further questions that I had about their band and as he said “there's a place for us within the scene, we simply make music that we like, and believe people do and will like our style of music”.
If you find yourself among the people that like classic rock tunes take the chance to see them live in one of their forthcoming performances:
Wednesday 23rd February
On the Rocks - Shoreditch
Saturday 19th March
Spice of Life - Soho
Tuesday 22nd March
Upstairs @ the Garage
If Deep South perform live as energetic as they sound to be in their demo…it is sure that they will rock your night!
