Everything Everything
Everything Everything @ Korova, Liverpool
Date: 6th December 2008

Everything Everything, are a four piece from Manchester who’s popularity has snowballed over the last year, they have been touring relentlessly of late and finally brought their own brand of melodic indie pop to Liverpool last Saturday.

A modest crowd gathered in Korova’s snug basement venue, no doubt a simmering down for the boys whose Newcastle and Manchester shows attract a familiar and enthusiastic rabble.

They failed to disappoint a less familiar Liverpool crowd who were willingly drawn into a tight, methodically polished set of affecting, intelligent pop songs.

Their constant change in pitch and tempo and a welcome disregard for perceived song structure makes it difficult to tear yourself away from the performance.

This unconventional ‘throwing out the rule books’ attitude toward song writing combined with an equally unconventional vocal could break rather than make many a band when converting their meticulously laboured tunes into a live performance but not so for Everything Everything.

Delightfully skilled drumming, addictively funky guitars that effortlessly slip into rock rifts and harmonies that will have the Futureheads heading back to the drawing board all translate fantastically live.

Stand out track and new single ‘Suffragette, Suffragette was a particular highlight but certainly not the only one.

I look forward to the groups inevitable return to Liverpool and won’t be surprised if they are greeted by an inevitably, by then, familiar and enthusiastic rabble.
