This is a really pretty song. Beautiful melodies and complementary harmonies run intertwining and twisting their way through the track. It could even be called twee. The whole sound is rounded and full, with excellent production. These guys are good at what they do. It's basically the kind of song Xfm plays when its feeling particularly pleased with itself.
However having said this, and despite the undeniable beauty of the song and excellent production values, there is little here to immediately grab you and say "Listen to me!" although it does get better on subsequent visits. I immediately dismissed it, but am definitely warming to it now.
The band were formed in the mid 90's and their sound is reminiscent of Idlewild, but better. It's your cerebral American college rock type thing and its not often you get to write American and cerebral in the same sentence. The single is taken from the new album 'Plans' and if this is a taster then it may just make you want to take a look at the rest.
