If you haven’t herd of Crystal Castles you must be living under the sea! The Toronto based band, compromising of vocalist Alice Glass and producer Ethan Kath, have released one album prior to this and performed at Glastonbury in 2008, which saw their set curtailed by organizers due to Alice climbing the stage rigging, come off it guys it’s a punk band! She dives into the crowd at every show they play without fail.
More controversy followed this year as an early master of the album was leaked on the good old faithful internet, causing the release date to be brought forward.
This album, following up from their self titled debut, is a monster. Their distinctive blend of electronic analogue sound and raw punk vocals kicking the dancefloor into submission. Every track on this album fills you with emotions that fuel your dance floor frenzy.
The smooth vocals and sounds of single ‘Celestica’ is perfect for the mainstream radio audience, whilst maintaining its underground roots. Whereas the manic beats of the next track ‘Doe Deer’ are a pure energetic burst of euphoria making you feel unbeatable.
This album is a huge contrasting record that will leave you drained at the end of your dancefloor antics, but you’ll be screaming for more. The chaotic sounds of both the opener and closer leaves you bemused as to what is to come, but if you focus on the exploding sounds of the album they sandwich I promise, you won't be disappointed.
