Three Colours are a London post rock outfit with a sound echoing the likes of 65 Days of Static and early Foals.

Unless you’re the patient and inquisitive type that’s into post rock/math rock, the beginning of “Firefly” is nowhere near captivating enough for the casual listener browsing for something new. By the time the track reaches its peak, you’ve probably moved on and missed the defining part of the song. The vocals just seem to be swallowed up by the instrumentals.

Despite the wait, those who reach the 90 second mark will get to hear the song really come alive. It’s at this moment the nature of the song changes and heads will start turning. Strong, projected vocals, powerful melodies and explosive drumming prove Three Colours do have musical talent to show off; however the lengthy track lacks structure. Although clearly talented musicians, they try to cram too much in at once.

Cutting down the instrumentals a little would define the fundamentals of exactly what they want to create.  They need to bring the song to life much earlier, therefore identifying the ‘Three Colours sound’. A band with obvious potential, Three Colours need to find a distinct spark that will get them noticed.
