We Are Scientists stopped by Liverpool on their latest run of dates in the UK. Just one song in they declared it more successful than the previous nights show in Bristol, where they ended up in Pizza Express by 9.30 due to an elaborate plan to play so badly that when they asked the audience where they having a good time they left, freeing them up early to make last orders.
All joking aside, the band were on fine form. Playing as a live three piece again seemingly breathing new life into the songs, after the expansive sound of “Brain Thrust Mastery”. New songs such as “Nice Guys” and “Jack and Ginger” slotted in brilliantly alongside oldies like “It’s a Hit”, “Nobody Move, Nobody Get Hurt” and “The Great Escape”.
Bassist Chris Cain had plenty of weirdly wonderful comedic musings between the hits, such as “Do you guys like the Beatles' Museum? Cause everyone who lives in Orlando thinks Disney World is shit”.
Ending with a punked up version of “After Hours”, the band grabbed a quick breather. On their return, Chris announced that they had spent the short interval looking through their back catalogue on iTunes as they thought they had played all their songs, but they found two more.
