I’m not thinking of my landlady’s wrath when I say that this isn’t a good idea, by the way. Maybe I need to go to Razorlight Fan’s Anonymous meetings, but, to hell with it, I’ve grown to quite admire their music.
In the Morning clatters into life with that familiar guitar garage shake and funky jangle. There is no immediacy involved, so after a good handful of spins, I can declare that it has slow smouldering, slow release hookiness.
Sure, this is bound to generic confines, but it’s still a worthy effort. It may be incomparable to the bright pop spark of Somewhere Else, but you can imagine it becoming an instant indie dancefloor filler.
Funnily enough, for a song about being washed up in the morning amidst ‘dirty sheets’, this single is a sunnyside of the morning tune. There is an undertow of 4am comedown and lovelorn letdowns. It does that usual Razorlight thing of having a real melancholy edge despite being a bright pop song.
Granted, this isn’t a wild stray from their standard indie-rock formula, but it still packs a perfect pop punch. For more information you can visit: http://www.razorlight.co.uk
