Any worthy addition to the mainstream of any genre is always welcomed in clubs, seemingly to help push time on slightly so that we have something new to listen to and to help define the time we are in and what we're doing.
Although Kelis’ ‘Trick Me’ single doesn’t really have anything bad to make it stand out as a real stinker of a track, it also doesn’t have anything great to make it as memorable either.
So, 'for fans only please' is the warning. Anyone who adores hip-hop and reggae and likes to have it on in the background will have no complaints either.
What is especially lacking in ‘Trick me’ is not the standard catchiness of a chorus, which is duly present, but the song seems to just go on like this for it’s brief three and a half minutes without a sign of engaging change. This is what makes it more perfect background noise as opposed to concentrated listening.
