Tripping across my headphones last summer this track soothed my soul. As I sat in the park next to my girlfriend on such a beautiful day I relished the great sound pouring out of my mp3 player. It is a wonderful album that really does lend itself to lazing in a carefree frame of mind that abounds in the August sun. This single takes me right back to this great little moment and as a review I can’t really express it better this sentimental picture that’s almost my music video to this song. The album has been out for soo long that it surprises me that this single is being released in the midst of a freezing February chill.
However it is a very cleverly constructed song and perfectly paced. It has some great lyrics that trip and bumble along to just an acoustic guitar and a set of maracas. This all placed like a rolling stream under the waterfall of Johnson’s soothing tones. In essence it’s a love song and presumably, the ex he tried to woo back with this track hopefully went back with the Hawaiian strummer for his looks and talent and not his lazy sentiment because it is a great little track but ever so cheeky.
However if you're not in a relationship it is a very annoying song and should be avoided at all cost as it’s ever so corny and it does take more than telling your ex “it’s always better together” to woo her back into your bedroom.
A great track from the laid back strummer, and I should hazard a guess that it will earn another couple of million for the surprise hit of last year. Let us all hope he comes out with some new material soon and before summer comes around.
